I was having a clear-out today – weeding through old paperwork and receipts.
As I was going through, I reflected on where all that money had gone.
A lot of it had been spent on repairing the washing machine, replacing a worn out carpet, servicing the car, magazine subscriptions, impulse buys or clothes I no longer wear. Some things have since been relegated to the loft or have just been consumed in the course of everyday life.
For some of it, like the old electricity and phone bills, there was no remaining evidence, apart from a paper record, of it ever having existed at all!.
Then I wondered how much had been spent on my own capabilities and long term future. It would be interesting to compare how much effort is spent on ‘stuff’ with looking after our own health and well being.
I don’t just mean things on the surface here, but the well being of my own mind, body and soul. Was I learning new skills, spending time with people, staying fit and healthy ?
‘Cost-Benefit’ is the language used in business. Prioritising time and money for maximum return is order of the day.
Where would you place health and wellness on that priority list for time and money ?
